The Bus Yard Signs Long-Term Lease with Sefton Council: A New Era for Crosby Coastal Park

Great news for locals and visitors alike! The Bus Yard, the beloved food and drink venue located on the beachfront at Crosby Coastal Park, has officially signed a long-term lease with Sefton Council. This exciting development will ensure the popular venue continues to serve great food, drinks, and entertainment from its unique location overlooking Crosby Beach and the iconic Anthony Gormley ‘Iron Men’ sculptures.

The nine-year lease agreement, which covers the period from April 1st to September 30th each year, will allow The Bus Yard to enhance its offering, providing both stability and the opportunity for growth. This comes after a successful partnership with the council that began with a 28-day trial in 2021, further cementing The Bus Yard’s role as a key local business and community hub.

A Unique Coastal Experience

The Bus Yard is known for its distinctive setting at Crosby Marina, where a converted bus bar offers panoramic views over the sea, with seating on top for the ultimate beachfront experience. The venue also features a spacious cornered-off seating area with beach huts and shelters, perfect for relaxing while taking in the stunning coastal scenery. Guests can enjoy delicious street food served out of a converted shipping container, all sourced from local suppliers, while listening to regular live acoustic music played from the top of the bus.

Whether it’s a sunny day out with family, a relaxing evening with friends, or a chance to enjoy local food and entertainment, The Bus Yard provides the perfect atmosphere.

Supporting the Local Economy and Community

The new nine-year lease is more than just a milestone for The Bus Yard—it’s an important development for the local economy. Cllr Paulette Lappin, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Economy & Skills, highlighted how this partnership helps create jobs, boost local businesses, and contribute to the area’s attractions. The Bus Yard’s unique offering complements the council’s vision to enhance Crosby Coastal Park while maintaining the area’s natural beauty.

Cllr Lappin said:
“Crosby Coastal Park is a valued asset for both the Council and the local community, and we’re delighted to offer a long-term lease to a brilliant local business. Through partnerships such as this, we can help create jobs, offer a boost to the local economy, and enhance our visitor attractions.”

The Future Looks Bright for The Bus Yard

Andy Laird, Director of The Bus Yard, expressed his excitement about the long-term agreement:
“We’re excited to be back at Crosby Coastal Park and thrilled to have signed a long-term deal with the Council. The nine-year lease offers us the security to look at how we can invest in the site, improve our offering, and continue to play a big part in the local community.”

Visit The Bus Yard and Crosby Beach

Located at the heart of Crosby Coastal Park, The Bus Yard is a must-visit destination for both locals and tourists. The park itself offers a range of recreational and cultural activities, including walks along Crosby Beach and the Marine Lake. Visitors can enjoy the breathtaking views of the coast, especially the Iron Men sculptures, while soaking in the relaxed atmosphere of the area.

While Crosby Beach is not a bathing beach, visitors should be aware of the changing tides and always stay within 50 meters of the promenade for safety.
