Celebrate Earth Day with a Community Plant Swap at Wayfarers Arcade
Share
This Earth Day, April 22nd, Wayfarers Arcade in Southport will come to life with green goodness as it hosts a special Plant Swap event, part of Oxfam’s global campaign for climate justice. Running from 10am to 2pm, this free, eco-conscious initiative invites visitors to bring a plant, take a plant, and help nurture both their gardens and the planet.
Situated at A Book of Petals’ stall in the Sustainability Zone, the swap welcomes indoor and outdoor plants, seeds, and cuttings—perfect for both budding gardeners and experienced plant lovers. Participation is free, though donations to Oxfam are warmly encouraged, helping to fund critical climate and community projects around the world.
The event is proudly supported by The Hearth, ScottishPower, Making Energy Greener, and The Engine Room, all of whom are committed to promoting greener, more sustainable lifestyles.
Adding a creative twist to the day is Jess, the talented local dried flower artist behind A Book of Petals. Known for her vibrant, handcrafted wreaths and floral decor, Jess grows and dries many of her flowers at home, using compostable materials to create pieces that are beautiful, sustainable, and biodegradable. Her work highlights how floral art can be both decorative and environmentally conscious, drawing in local wildlife and reducing waste.
Jess’s stall won’t just be about swapping greenery—it will be an inspiring showcase of how sustainability and creativity go hand in hand. For those unable to attend on the day, her work is available online via Instagram, Facebook, Etsy, and at abookofpetals.co.uk.
So, mark your calendar for April 22nd and join the community in celebrating Earth Day the green way. Bring a plant, take a plant, and help fight for climate justice—one swap at a time. 🌱🌍
