Primal Live: Creating Community Through Music 🎸🎶
Share
Today Primal Live hold their latest fundraiser at Camp and Furnace raising funds for the homeless of Liverpool in collaboration with The Whitechapel Centre.
Since launching in May 2024, Primal Live has been redefining what it means to build community through music. With the mantra "You Bring the Art, We Bring the Stage," this grassroots movement has created a powerful platform for unsigned musical talent across the UK to shine and it's just getting started.
🚀 From Open Mic to Movement
In less than a year, 433 musical artists have taken to the Primal Live stage. From singer-songwriters to instrumentalists, each performance has helped shape a musical community that’s inclusive, passionate, and driven by purpose.
The result? Two massive live events held at Liverpool’s iconic Camp and Furnace in July and October 2024, raising over £8,000 for The Whitechapel Centre a local charity supporting people experiencing homelessness.
🎧 A Song for the Homeless: A Powerful Collaboration
Following the October event, Primal Live was invited by SAE Institute UK to take things one step further by writing, recording, and releasing a song for the homeless.
Working from a chord base and structure composed by Sam Leyden, 18 artists from the Primal Live community came together, meeting weekly to collaboratively write and rehearse the track.
In late October, the team entered the SAE Institute Liverpool recording studio. What began as an ambitious “one-day” session quickly turned into a four-day recording marathon, proving that something truly meaningful can't be rushed.
The studio buzzed with creative energy and attention. BBC News, BBC Radio Merseyside, and Legacy Media all arrived to document the project’s journey, underscoring just how impactful the Primal Live movement had become.
🎼 Authentic, Raw, and 100% Live
This wasn’t just any track — this was real music, made the old school way.
With zero synthetic sound, the final song included:
-
🎸 3 Acoustic Guitars

-
🥁 Drums
-
🎻 Violin
-
🎹 Piano
-
🎤 8 Core Singers
-

The result? A track as raw, heartfelt, and human as the people it was created to support.
